How to stretch a 2D CAD solid into a 3D solid
Let me explain: for example, if you want to create a rectangle using straight lines, you first need to define the area, then use the extrude command in the solid commands to give it a height; there’s no need to consider angles for now, just press Enter. Just look at it from the southwest isometric view.
To create 3D drawings, I think there are several toolbars that are essential. First are the toolbars for solids and solid editing; then there’s the 3D dynamic observer. You can first draw a box or a circle or something similar; before turning a 2D shape into a 3D one, that 2D shape needs to be turned into a surface area. The stretching from 2D to 3D is done using the Stretch option in the Solid toolbar. If you already have a 3D shape, such as a cube, and you want to stretch this cube, you need to use the face stretching feature in solid editing. Unlike the previous method, here you simply enter a length; whereas with path stretching, you need a reference line that defines the 2D direction. It’s a bit tedious to explain, but the operations on the software are simple; it just gets a bit harder when trying to describe them in words.
Use the “Stretch” command in 3D to stretch the 2D shape you want; however, it won’t be visible in the 2D wireframe view – you need to switch to 3D view to see it.
