Acid-base pumps are always subject to erosion by the medium to varying degrees, which causes them to sink slightly; this makes it difficult to align the coupling between the motor and the pump, and as a result, the buffer gaskets and bearings can easily get damaged. Have other sailors encountered such problems as well? How did you solve them?
We currently use the dual-gauge single-point method for chemical process pumps
If the pump foundation settles, it becomes less stable. This makes it difficult to align the couplings, meaning they cannot be properly aligned, which poses a serious threat to the proper operation of the pump. The foundation is the basic condition for the standard of equipment in good condition.
The rotation centers of the two shafts connected by the coupling of the pump and motor must be strictly concentric. The coupling must be accurately aligned and centered during installation; otherwise, it will cause significant stress on the coupling, which in turn will severely affect the proper functioning of the shafts, bearings, and other components on the shafts. This can even lead to vibration or damage of the entire machine as well as its foundation. Therefore, the alignment of the pump and motor coupling is one of the very important steps in the installation and maintenance process. Now, due to corrosion, the pump foundation has sunk, resulting in a less stable foundation; even if the couplings are aligned properly, they can still shift. In such cases, it is possible to use a corrosion-resistant concrete foundation, which addresses the issue of poor corrosion resistance associated with ordinary concrete foundations for acid pumps, thereby ensuring their long-term stable operation. It is also possible to consider adding a fiberglass-reinforced plastic anti-corrosion layer on top of the concrete structure
We used fiberglass reinforced with marble, and after 4 years, damage of varying degrees has occurred. Are there any better methods for corrosion prevention?

Marble is a type of metamorphic or sedimentary carbonate rock, whose main chemical component is calcium carbonate, accounting for over 50%; it also contains magnesium carbonate, calcium oxide, manganese oxide, and silicon dioxide. Marble is a medium-hard stone. In the atmosphere, under the influence of carbon dioxide, sulfides, water vapor, etc., it is prone to corrosion, loses its surface luster, and undergoes weathering and cracking. Have you mistaken granite slabs for marble slabs?
If the foundation is damaged, it’s best to cast it again; there is no good solution
The base of the pump and motor is designed to be integrated
The area around the acid and alkali pumps in our company is covered with acid- and alkali-resistant tiles, and after 3 years, no corrosion of these tiles has occurred
The motor and pump can share a common base.
Put some effort into the selection of couplings. Diaphragm couplings cannot be used in applications that require strict alignment. Couplings such as rubber-tooth couplings can be considered.
