Paying attention to our methods of operation and developing good habits in daily ICP use can help extend the lifespan of our instruments, while also reducing the impact of adverse factors. Based on my experience in my daily work as well as information from various sources, I would like to share the following points with you. 1. Do not remove the flame height adjustment clip before lighting the flame, as this may damage the working coil and expose it, creating a risk of electric shock. 2. Clean the torch tube regularly to prevent the inner opening from being blocked by crystals formed as a result of salt analysis; if the flame is red, it indicates that salt has precipitated. In such cases, it is possible to clean the torch using a hydrochloric acid solution with a volume ratio of 10:1 of hydrochloric acid to water, while the flame is still lit. 3. Regularly check the water filling tank; the water level in it should not be less than 70%, and the water should be replaced periodically. 4. The gas in the argon cylinder must not be used up completely each time. First, it is to prevent excessive impurities at the bottom of the bottle from contaminating the system; second, it is to avoid damage to certain components of the instrument, especially the torch tube, due to sudden loss of gas supply during ignition. 5. Perform wavelength calibration after each maintenance of the reagent; otherwise, it will affect the accuracy of measurements.
We do pay close attention, but the lamp tubes still get replaced quite often.
