What is the function of the flow-limiting orifice plate in the oxygen pipeline of the Texaco gasifier, and where should this orifice plate be installed?
Personal opinion: Flow restriction in the main pipeline – we have such mechanisms in the main pipelines, and devices like oxygen flow meters can also serve to restrict flow, ensuring that there are no large fluctuations in the flow rate downstream
On the branch line of the oxygen vent pipeline, it is mainly used during startup; it ensures that the pressure difference in the vent pipeline is similar to that in the burner before oxygen is introduced into the gasifier, so as to prevent excessive fluctuations in the oxygen flow rate when switching from venting to operation in the gasifier
I checked, and it’s present on both our main PID pipelines and vent pipelines; its function is as described by the two people above
In my opinion, the flow control orifice plate in the oxygen vent line serves to reduce pressure; in some designs, the oxygen vent line not only has a flow control orifice plate but also an expanded diameter section. The throttle orifice plate on the main oxygen pipeline should serve several functions: 1. Pressure reduction, as the pressure in the main oxygen pipeline and that inside the vaporization furnace need to be maintained between 0.6 and 1.2 MPa; if this pressure is too high, it can cause vibrations in the oxygen flow. 2. The position of the flow control orifice plate in the main oxygen pipeline should be related to the flame length of the burner; therefore, it is very important to choose the appropriate location for this orifice plate as well as its inner diameter
It should be a current-limiting and voltage-stabilizing mechanism to keep the pressure and flow rate of oxygen stable, thereby reducing fluctuations in the gasification furnace.

There are flow control orifice plates both after the external epoxy line and the vent valve; their function is as mentioned above. Additionally, the flow control orifice plate on the external epoxy line helps to regulate the flow rate of oxygen at the time of feeding, thereby ensuring proper atomization of the coal slurry fed into the furnace and facilitating better combustion.
In the process package provided to us by Texaco, a flow control orifice plate is installed on each of the vent lines and the external epoxy lines. However, the documentation for the orifice plate on the external epoxy line states that it should have the same inner diameter as that of the oxygen line; alternatively, an orifice plate with a slightly smaller inner diameter can be used as needed
