Old hydrorefining units generally employ a cold high-pressure separation process and do not include hydrogen circulation for desulfurization. How should the corrosion caused by hydrogen sulfide in the circulating hydrogen be addressed in such systems? What material requirements apply under these conditions?
Since the operating temperature is not high and it is in a gas phase, there is no need to consider material upgrades; carbon steel is sufficient； However, it is essential to prevent the formation of condensate, for example by ensuring that pipes have a slope, that the compressor inlet lines are insulated, and by reducing dead zones.
