I’ve just started working in process engineering, and I’m afraid it might sound silly, but I’ve never really understood what tasks a process engineer is supposed to carry out. The calculations in chemical engineering principles seem difficult; I’m not sure whether it will be necessary to master these calculations in the future, including those related to material balance and heat balance for distillation columns :loveliness:

Whether it’s right to do it or not, doing it is always beneficial for oneself; the more you do, the better, and the less you do, the worse – not doing anything is not good.
In the distillation process, the three key equilibria are material balance, heat balance, and phase balance; therefore, it is essential to have a thorough understanding of material balance and heat balance.
