The starting materials are Na2S, S, NaOH, and water; methanol is then added as a solvent. It reacts with chlorocyclohexane to produce dicyclohexyldisulfide at a temperature of around 100 degrees and a pressure of 1–2 atmospheres. The waste liquid remaining after the reaction is recycled as a mother liquor. However, the main components in this waste liquid are unknown; it seems that there is a substance that accumulates over time and affects the quality of the disulfides. Therefore, I would like to analyze the main components present in it. But I don’t know what methods can be used for this analysis. Could anyone with experience please offer some suggestions?
