How is the tube side of an air cooler generally determined? There’s a formula in the book, but the meaning of some symbols is unclear. Np=3600*π/4Di2*n*v1*ρ*1/W
Types of air coolers: suction type, forced-air type, and natural convection type, which can be used to heat or cool the tube side. The maximum number of pipelines can be 50. The heat exchanger can be placed at any angle, and the gas outside the tubes can be distributed unevenly. The external fins on the tube can be: high fins, low fins, toothed fins, nail heads, tube sheet fins, etc. The number of tube rows can reach 100 layers.
Well, I already know all of this. I just want to know how the number of pipes is determined – are there any tables or curves based on experience that can help with this?
It’s simple: ensure that the flow rate of the medium inside the pipe matches the designed flow rate as closely as possible. Note that after determining the pipe bank, the inlet and outlet pressure drops should be checked.

In other words, the total pressure drop for import and export must be lower than the pressure drop required in your process system
