I have designed a laboratory pressure filtration device. The filter is cylindrical, with a volume of 1 L and an inner diameter of 80 mm. I plan to use filtering media with a diameter of 40 or 50 mm, which can be placed horizontally or vertically. The pressure difference should be within 5 kilograms. I would like to ask experts what methods can be used to seal the filtering media?
If you don’t need a switch, then there’s no need for a flange. If you need to turn it on and off occasionally, a flange + O-ring will suffice; just make sure to consider the medium and the material of the O-ring. If you turn it on and off frequently, change the flange to a quick-release design, such as a clamp. But I guess your experimental funding won’t be that much. Use flanges. If you have filter elements, not only must the filter housing mentioned above be sealed, but the areas where the filter elements come into contact with the housing also need to be sealed. If particle-level precision is required, professional sealing methods are necessary. Otherwise, use threads. . . However, threads are also quite expensive; I guess you still can’t afford them. . . Of course, there are cheaper ways as well. . . I just don’t know if you really need it or not. Please write the conditions more clearly. I will provide you with whatever help I can.
