This post was last edited by Banzzi on 2009-8-22 08:39. How to purge an newly built oil terminal that is isolated from land (with no water or wind) after construction is completed? How to conduct pressure testing? Is water transportation mandatory? If so, what if there is no water?
In my opinion, purging and pressure testing can be carried out using compressed air! ! ! But can’t a dock without water be used for combined transport testing? Is it because the canal wasn’t built properly? Should we wait for the water to come?
Those that use compressed air have difficulty locating leaks if they occur. It is still recommended to find a water source; docks usually have a fire suppression system, and if such a system is available, one can wait until it is fully functional before connecting temporary pipes to supply water.
It has been decided to use seawater as the fire-fighting water. Since the dock is far from land, the cost of bringing in water is too high; therefore, no water pipelines will be installed in the near future. Please, everyone, keep sharing your suggestions.
I have a humble question: Can a large ship filled with water be used to create circulation in the pipelines at the newly built dock?
After construction is complete, water pressure and airtightness are essential; otherwise, how can it pass the inspection?
Pressure testing and purging are necessary; in my opinion, it is possible to use seawater for pressure testing and then purge with compressed air.
The water used for pressure testing must meet certain quality requirements, as specified in GB50316. Although seawater is only used during pressure testing, corrosion still needs to be taken into account, right?
After pressurizing with seawater, it can be cleaned with fresh water.
If it can be rinsed with fresh water, then what’s the need for seawater?
Usually, there is a pipe from the dock leading to the tank area; it is recommended to complete the construction of this pipe first, using it to supply water to the construction site. Before completion, the pipe should be flushed clean, and hot dry air can be used for this purpose, with the humidity of the air at the outlet of the pipe being checked.
