The chemical plant where I work has a unit for evaporating toluene. Toluene is fed into the tower at 50°C. I am considering changing the process so that the toluene is first cooled in a condenser at the top of the tower before being fed into the tower at its bubble point. I wonder how much energy can be saved by this approach; if 33 tons of toluene need to be evaporated per day, how much steam can be saved?
What was the original reaction heat of the poster, and what is it after the modification? What other heat exchange equipment is there in the intermediate process, and what is the heat transfer capacity? What pressure and temperature of steam is required?
