What should KMTA be those words?

This post was last edited by cjzhou2 on 2009-8-25 02:04. Today I read an article mentioning a plant capacity of 10kmta, which should mean 10,000 tons per year; however, I’m not sure what those letters stand for. Could someone please help me out?:)

MTA = metric ton per annum; it is usually written as tpa or MTPA. In English, abbreviations with four letters are preferred. In your case, KMTA means thousand metric tons per annum, while MMTA means million metric tons per annum. Often, million (metric) tons per annum is expressed as MTPA
