In heat exchanger design, the heat transfer coefficient calculated based on the outer diameter of the heat transfer tubes is used to determine the tube wall temperature and the shell wall temperature. How is this heat transfer coefficient calculated? I have a question. . . Thank you

Logically, the film coefficients inside and outside the heat exchange tubes should be provided by the process engineering team; it is difficult to carry out calculations for the equipment (not that it’s impossible). If process calculation software is used, the wall temperature can also be determined simultaneously. Ask the process for it.
This is quite troublesome. If it’s only about designing the heat exchanger, then for the shell side, the average temperature of the medium in that side can be used, and for the tube wall temperature, the average temperature of the medium in the shell side and that in the tube side can be taken.
To calculate the wall temperature accurately, it is still necessary to use Appendix F of GB151 for the calculations; however, this process is rather complicated. The metal wall temperature of heat exchangers is generally determined by the process engineering team
