We all know that there are two installation methods for electromagnetic flowmeter sensors: flange mounting and clamping mounting. Please discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these two installation methods, as well as the applicable installation conditions for each of them. Thank you!
Electromagnetic flowmeters can be classified by installation method into: flange-connected type, clamp-type, and clamp-connected sanitary type. In my opinion, the advantage of the flange type is its high reliability in connection, allowing for connections under high pressure. The reinforced type is easy to install, but the medium pressure cannot be too high. The clamp’s sanitary design makes it easy to disassemble and clean, making it suitable for applications with high hygiene requirements!
Clamped installation is suitable only for medium to small diameter pipes, yet it can still achieve the rated pressure level; this is because the clamping is done using the pipe flanges along with long bolts. Flange mounting is suitable for all installation scenarios, while for clamp mounting, only the sanitary type requires it, as this mounting method eliminates any dead corners that could be difficult to clean.
I’ve seen that on our units, regardless of the diameter, they are all installed using flange connections.
