What is the standard for 316M stainless steel material?

There is a device for which the user has requested that 316M stainless steel be used. Please help provide the procurement and inspection standards for this material; it’s urgent!

The procurement and inspection standards can be found in the quality assurance certificate; generally, the steel manufacturer is responsible for ensuring the quality. Users can conduct inspections based on relevant standards.
Check ASTM B 316/B 316M-2002 or ASTM B 316M REV A-1992 (although it seems that this standard number has been discontinued); perhaps you can find what you’re looking for there!
ASME grades are not written this way. Generally speaking, in ASME grades such as SA-213, it is equivalent to SA-213M (one being the ASME notation and the other the ASTM notation). Within SA-213 there are grades such as TP316, TP316L, TP316N, etc., and it is possible that what the user is looking for is TP316. SA-213 is the standard number for steel pipes, while SA240 is the standard number for steel plates.
Generally speaking, the suffix “M” means “Modify”; it indicates that the company responsible for producing that steel grade has made minor adjustments to the standard specification. For example, the 430M steel grade produced by our company is actually a variant of the Japanese standard 430LX. By examining the composition, it is possible to determine which standard steel grade the 316L steel is most similar to, thereby allowing for an approximate assessment
I agree with the opinion above; the suffix \"M\" means \"Modify\“. Although there is no standard specification for 316M steel, the 317LM steel grade can be used as a reference. The differences in its elemental composition compared to 317L lie in the increased levels of Ni, Mo, and N. It is used in certain specialized industries and represents a slightly modified variant of 317L steel.
