What is the purpose of the enlarged pipes at the inlet and outlet of the circulating water pump in a plate heat exchanger unit? What is an appropriate flow velocity for the pipe?
Reduce the pump’s diameter to save costs
Reducing the pump’s diameter helps save costs, but it also increases safety risks; as the pump diameter decreases, the flow rate increases.
Of course, it’s better to use the same diameter. However, some manufacturers may find that the diameter specifications of the plate exchanger don’t quite match those of the pump, so they have to add something to enable assembly.
It is not to reduce the impact on the pump impeller.
