Total saline flow rate at the electrolyzer inlet – Flow rate of fresh saline returning to the electrolyzer – Saline concentration in the filtered saline storage tank – Saline concentration at the electrolyzer outlet – Saline concentration at the electrolyzer inlet. Given the first four values, is it possible to calculate the saline concentration at the electrolyzer inlet? # + + .
This post was last edited by pzhhuagong on 2009-8-30 at 13:14. It’s possible to do that – by checking the density at that temperature and concentration, it’s then possible to calculate the concentration of the brine leaving the tank. After all, there’s a conservation law for NaCl
Is there a specific formula? I’m not majoring in chemical engineering; please help me out!
Bro, since you can’t calculate it, just do a practical measurement!
In my opinion, it is not possible to calculate the concentration of the brine at the inlet of the electrolyzer based solely on the first 4 items you listed. You can list all other data you know; perhaps then others will be able to help calculate the concentration of the brine at the inlet.
Some data require the determination of physical and chemical properties, such as the concentration of saltwater at a certain temperature. If pure theoretical values aren’t needed, it’s most convenient to conduct actual measurements
The amount of brackish water returned is generally around 80% of the amount of saline water fed into the tank.
