This post was last edited by li*ch1968 on 2009-8-29 at 16:03. The resistivity of ultrapure water is generally 18 MΩ·cm, and it is non-conductive under normal conditions. Whether something conducts or does not conduct electricity is a relative concept; there is nothing absolute.

A resistivity of 16 MΩ·cm means it should be non-conductive, regardless of the material, but voltage is very important
Air does not conduct electricity, right? I have seen experiments where high-pressure air is ionized to become conductive. Water, H2O, ionizes to produce H+ and OH-, and although the degree is slight, this process does occur. It can’t be said that it is completely non-conductive.

In fact, the purity of high-purity water is characterized by its resistivity. Because there is no absolutely pure water; even water with the highest purity still has a measurable level of conductivity. Similarly, being conductive or non-conductive is relative. . . There is only one correct interpretation: resistivity can be used to indicate the purity of water, with higher purity resulting in lower resistivity.
Ultra-pure water becomes conductive when exposed to ultra-high pressure.
Just give it a try; theoretical things can be misleading sometimes.
This post was last edited by li*ch1968 on 2009-8-30 20:32. Hehe, yes. There is nothing absolutely conductive or non-conductive. Theoretically, 18M ultrapure water is non-conductive, but in practice it still exhibits slight conductivity. There is nothing absolute.
Since it’s pure water, it definitely doesn’t conduct electricity! That’s what I think, because the conductive ions don’t conduct electricity that well at all!
