A tank for storing gas is currently being manufactured; during the hydrostatic test, a horizontal testing method is used, but the static pressure of the liquid column is not taken into account. Is it necessary to perform pressure testing again? The tank height is about 9 meters; since the equipment is used for gases, does it not need to take into account the static pressure of the liquid column?
It mainly depends on the size of your equipment. If the height is relatively large, the static pressure of the liquid column cannot be ignored, and the pressure testing process needs to be reconsidered; generally, this is not necessary for storage tanks
The vertical test should include the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid column; what is taken into account here is the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid used in the test, and it seems to have nothing to do with the medium used in the equipment.
It depends on the testing method specified in your design drawings. If your drawings require a vertical hydrostatic test, then you will definitely need to conduct the hydrostatic test again, as the pressure of a 9M water column is quite high and cannot be ignored.

When performing a hydraulic pressure test on vertical containers in a horizontal position, whether to take into account the static pressure due to the liquid depends on the design. If the foundation is designed according to the operating conditions, then the static pressure due to the liquid need not be considered, as no hydraulic test is carried out during operation either (the foundation cannot withstand it); If a hydrostatic test is to be conducted during maintenance, the static pressure exerted by the liquid must be taken into account (regarding the stability and load-bearing capacity of the foundation under the hydrostatic test), and the overall performance of the equipment also needs to be checked.

The hydrostatic pressure here refers to the pressure in hydraulic experiments, and it has nothing to do with the medium in use during operation.
