Construction issues in the catalytic circulating water station?

We are currently building a recirculation water station. The design team has specified the use of tees with dimensions DN600*300 for both the return pipes and branch pipes; some tees are of size DN600*450 as well. I suggest making holes in the pipes and welding them directly together instead of using tees, but there are different opinions on this! It is said that there are two standards for the diameter ratio of direct openings, but what are these standards? I just couldn’t find it; I’m not sure if everyone is aware of it? Are there any standards or guidelines?
Does this problem seem quite challenging? Could you ask the moderator to transfer me to the civil engineering section so I can ask for advice there?
All the three-way pipelines here were replaced with standard pipelines instead of non-standard ones during the last shutdown; the exact standards aren’t very clear, but I assume it was done for safety reasons.
