I need to go to the site to inspect the equipment, but I have no experience. I have two questions for everyone: 1. What items do I need to bring, and what are the standards? Do other devices like tape measures need to be brought? 2. What are the general procedures for acceptance? What issues need attention?
I used to work for a large multinational company, and there were quite a few things to keep in mind when inspecting equipment. I’ll briefly mention them, based on my memory. I hope this helps you. 1. You need to create a device inspection checklist first; this helps to ensure that the device is in good condition and that no significant oversights occur. Of course, this is possible only if you think of and include all the necessary inspection items. 2. Bring a camera with you; take pictures of any issues promptly, as this helps with documentation and analysis. If a high level of inspection inside the equipment is required, it is best to have an endoscope. 3. Bring the equipment drawings, and of course, a pen. 4. Do not conduct the inspection alone; it is better to have two or more people do it, as that will make things more thorough. Now, let’s talk about the items to be inspected: 1. The appearance of the equipment – whether there is any paint chipping, dents, or scratches. 2. Is the information on the nameplate consistent with that on the drawings? 3. Carefully inspect every component of the equipment according to the drawings, including hole diameters, bolt sizes, flanges, and the order of the components, etc. 4. For internal inspections of the equipment, if it is a large-scale device with access panels, one can enter through these panels to conduct an internal inspection. However, it is necessary to pay attention to safety, ensure proper ventilation inside the equipment, and have someone equipped with oxygen and explosion detectors on hand to monitor the situation. When inspecting the interior, focus on whether the rust is severe, whether the internal structure matches the drawings, and if there are insertion tubes, make sure their dimensions are correct. For small devices where the requirements for internal inspection are not particularly high, it is possible to use a flashlight through the flange opening to view the interior. If high standards are required, an endoscope can be used for examination. 5. If there is an enamel lining, a firing test must be conducted, and it should be carried out by a qualified person. I’ve kind of forgotten it all; I hope other sea friends can fill in the gaps.
