New Process for Blending Long-flame Coal in Coking This article’s abstract: Since the beginning of this year, in order to cope with the challenging market conditions, Meigang has made it a priority to find ways to expand the sources of coal used for coking, reduce the costs associated with coking production, and improve the quality of coke. As a result, a new process for blending long-flame coal in coking was developed, which allows for savings of over 12 million yuan in coal costs throughout the year. Recently, Meigang Company successfully developed a new coal blending process for coking with long-flame coal; once put into use, this process can save over 12 million yuan in coal consumption costs throughout the year. Since the beginning of this year, in order to cope with the severe market conditions, Meigang has made \"expanding the sources of coal for coking, reducing coking production costs, and improving coke quality\" its key focus areas for research. It has proposed a new approach to incorporating non-coking coal into the coking process under conventional coking conditions, and is working to explore and optimize the coal blending techniques used in coking production. Relevant technical personnel from Meigang’s Manufacturing Department, Technology Center, Ironmaking Plant, Procurement Department, and Meishan New Business Unit formed the \"Non-coking Coal Blending for Coking Application Team.\" In collaboration with Anhui University of Technology, they conducted research on the basic properties of alternative coal types, utilizing Meigang’s existing experimental techniques and equipment to address these challenges. The research team optimized the plan by conducting multiple combination tests to adjust the ratios, particle size, and basic coal blending structure. Subsequently, the team also developed an industrial testing plan to further optimize the blending scheme for non-coking coals, laying the foundation for their long-term use. This research finding not only holds significant theoretical significance in guiding the development of new coking processes using low-cohesion coal blends, but also possesses great practical value. At present, Meigang is conducting a comprehensive summary and analysis of the existing achievements in order to make further breakthroughs in coal blending technology research.
