What are the steps for selecting a plate heat exchanger with a regulator?
One should first choose the regulator, and then the plate heat exchanger. Only after determining the size of the regulator, by checking the ratio of the heat transfer capacity it handles to the total heat transfer capacity, can one decide whether to use this type of structure. If the ratio is around 20%, then this structure is a viable option; if the ratio is too high, there is no need to use this structure, and it is better to opt for a shell-and-tube heat exchanger instead. Some manufacturers first choose a plate heat exchanger and then determine the size of the regulator based on the area of that heat exchanger; this is merely an empirical approach, and the resulting area selection is not accurate as it lacks any theoretical basis.
