The China Natural Gas (Shale Gas) Industry Development and Technology (Taiyuan) Forum will be held in August 2009. I. Topics of the conference: At present, natural gas utilization projects are developing on a large scale across the country, and Shanxi is a province of typical significance, as it has the largest coal resources and shale gas reserves in the nation. The three pipelines of the West-to-East Gas Transmission Project also pass through the country. The development and utilization of coalbed methane and pipeline natural gas in Shanxi Province hold a pivotal role in China. In order to better summarize the development plans for the natural gas (shale gas) industry, explore its academic and technical challenges, and further promote the development of this industry in Shanxi and across the country, the Leadership Group for the Development and Utilization of Shale Gas (Natural Gas) in Shanxi Province, the Shanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, the Shanxi Natural Gas Utilization Association, the Shaanxi Gas Design Institute, and the editorial board of \"Gas & Heat\" have invited organizations such as CNPC, CNOOC, and the Shanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission to present the industry’s development plans ； Experts including Mr. Li Youjia, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Gu Anzhong from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Professor Yu Yongzhang from Xi’an Jiao Tong University, and Professor-level engineer Zhong Daodi from Shaanxi Gas Design Institute were invited to deliver academic presentations and engage in discussions on various issues related to the LNG chain and its applications, natural gas (shale gas) liquefaction technologies, compressor technologies for CNG filling stations, integrated solutions for CNG/LNG/peak-shaving systems, as well as the design and safety management of LNG liquefaction plants and CNG/LNG filling stations ； Representative manufacturers of process packages and equipment in China’s LNG and CNG industries have been invited to introduce LNG technologies and liquefaction plants, equipment for LNG and CNG filling stations, as well as LNG and CNG transport tankers. The meeting was notified to the relevant departments and project owners in Shanxi Province in the name of the Shanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, while participants from various industries and enterprises in other provinces across the country were invited on behalf of the organizing body of the meeting. It is expected that more than 200 people will attend this meeting, which represents a significant event for the industry. II. Paper submission: This conference welcomes participation from research institutions, universities, design institutes, as well as industry experts and scholars and project owners. Papers are encouraged to be submitted; those accepted will be compiled into a conference proceedings book after review. Outstanding papers will be presented at the conference.
