Generally, there are two considerations: 1. The operating pressure of the flare is relatively low, so it is usually required that the piping be arranged in a sloping manner. Liquids are brought in, as there is a concern that fluid accumulation may occur in the bag-like area, thereby increasing the pressure drop in the pipes. 2. For acidic gas flares, liquids in the pipelines can exacerbate corrosion; therefore, such flares typically are equipped with numerous liquid separation pipes.

Let me give an example: what would happen if there were no liquid separation tank, or if the liquid separation tank was full, and the liquid went straight into the combustion section of the flare, resulting in a spraying effect? Unburned liquid droplets are ejected, forming a \"rain of fire\" that falls to the ground below. If there are uncovered drains or sewers on the ground, or if people are present, the situation becomes extremely dangerous. I’ve seen it – it’s really dangerous...
For the flare lines: Water seal tanks must be installed before the high-pressure and low-pressure flare lines enter the flare stack. Flame arresters are required when venting through these high-pressure and low-pressure flare stacks to prevent backflow of flames. The diameter of the pipes is chosen to meet both the requirements related to the maximum venting volume of the entire plant and those related to preventing flame backflow.
