Chemicals——What led you to enter this field?

Since I’m relatively pessimistic and work in a field that I don’t really like, I’m posting this to see how others got into this industry! ! As mentioned above, I am rather pessimistic; therefore, some reasons might not be included in the list. Feel free to add more if you think of any. Let’s discuss this together; if the discussion is good, I’ll give points (haha, just trying to tempt everyone a bit, sorry).
To make a living, if I had to choose, I would pick to be a librarian
First, that’s the case with university majors. Second, I tried changing careers, but most of them were in the service industry, which was difficult for me to adapt to. Third, it’s just for survival, right? Who can choose whatever they like at will?
I was good at high school chemistry, but I ended up choosing chemical engineering processes without really thinking it through when applying to college
I didn’t do well in the college entrance exam, so I was reassigned to another school
When applying for majors in college, I wasn’t admitted as my first choice, so I had to settle for the second option!
As for those who were transferred, it can still not be said that they truly like it; during their undergraduate years, they could even be said to hate the major they studied
In college, there’s no guidance regarding majors, interests, or personal career paths, so the choice of major when filling out college application forms was rather arbitrary. At that time, I thought that once I got to college, I would have a major of my own; as a student, I didn’t understand what a major actually meant. After graduation, in order to make a living, I had no choice but to enter the chemical industry. At that time, when I was looking for a job after graduation, there were not many options available, let alone one that matched my major. After working for a few years and gaining some industry experience, my knowledge and skills have improved over time, and my interest in this field has also grown; I find myself liking the chemical industry more and more. Now, I consider the chemical industry as a potential career path for the future
When I was in college, I thought chemistry was a great subject, and since chemical engineering processes were a key focus of the university, I chose that major. So I ended up entering this field. I’ve just started working, and I don’t have many thoughts on it yet; I’ll wait a few years before deciding. For now, I don’t plan to change careers
From the preliminary results, it seems that a large proportion of students are transferred to other programs. It appears that the chemical engineering major is one in which many students end up being transferred elsewhere in universities. Ah, it’s painful to study something one isn’t interested in; it’s sad to work in a field one has no passion for, and it’s impossible to be creative without such passion. What should be done? What do all those top chemistry competitors in high school end up doing?
