Have the experts in this field studied the chemical corrosion resistance of ceramic aluminum oxide? We manufacture metering pumps, and the valve element used in these pumps is made of ceramic (alumina). Recently, some customers have reported that it has been corroded. The medium consists of 31% hydrochloric acid and 98% concentrated sulfuric acid. I tried it myself using 31% hydrochloric acid; after 14 days of soaking, the surface lost its original luster and became softer, allowing powder-like substances to be scraped off with a knife. I would like to ask whether aluminum oxide should not be used in such a medium? If so, which material would be better to use? Glass? Thank you!
