When there is intermittent discharge to ground of the low-voltage side cable of the transformer, the failure of the high-voltage switch at that level leads to an over-level tripping. Furthermore, it caused some of the equipment on that section of the busbar to trip. My question is: If other devices on the bus are tripped, is it due to system resonance caused by intermittent grounding? What would be the effect of adding line reactors, and can it prevent it? Please advise
First, tell me the voltage level – whether it’s 110, 35, or 10 KV; this is very important. Line reactors are rarely used; they are mainly applied to capacitors for filtering high-order harmonics, usually the third and fifth harmonics. Regarding the issue of power outages in the discharge circuit, it’s possible that there are functions such as unbalanced trip and low-voltage trip in your circuit, which could cause these problems. Otherwise, the error rate of the comprehensive protection system wouldn’t be so high.
When there is intermittent discharge to ground of the cable on the low-voltage side of the transformer, it causes a voltage drop on that side; when the voltage drop is less than 70%, the circuit breaker equipped with voltage loss protection will trip, and this is independent of whether a reactor is installed or not.
