When you first started working at a design firm, how long did it take before you began doing actual work?

It’s been two months now, and I’m still not allowed to do anything. I can’t do anything at all; I really want to start working and learn things as soon as possible.
What company are you from? On the third day I arrived at the company, I went straight to the workshop to start working.
Hehe, it’s normal. I’ve been here for 2 months; the first month was for corporate training, and after that I had nothing to do. Unluckily, I had just finished the work related to equipment for one project, and then I started working on piping tasks. My classmate was lucky, as he was assigned to the piping work and got the opportunity to gain experience within the project team. Fortunately, the company has quite a few projects, so I’d better focus on getting familiar with the software and the standards first
If you have nothing to do, learn some software that you’ll need; by finding things to do on your own, you won’t be so idle
Self-study; read more about standards and regulations and things like that
I also just started working at the design institute; I was sent to the factory for a month, and now I’m mainly learning *Aspen and CAD
It’s mainly because you don’t do anything either! It’s better to charge more and wait for an opportunity!
It’s useless to just study the specifications without working on projects; one can’t remember them nor identify the key points. But it’s normal to wait for a month or two; there’s no need to rush things – take your time.
I’ve been waiting for a year now, and still nothing has happened. Sigh, what’s the point of being alive, huh?
As long as the salary is fair, it doesn’t matter too much; just read more books when you have time
