When you get an unfamiliar valve, how do you start to create a complete diagram of it?

As the title suggests, when I get a unfamiliar valve, I don’t know how to start drawing a complete diagram of it. I have drawn some diagrams before, but when faced with an unknown valve and asked to create a diagram of it, I really don’t know where to begin; I feel I’m not capable of completing it. Right now I need to create a CAD diagram of a valve that I’ve processed before, as there are no existing diagrams available for reference. I would appreciate it if fellow experts could advise me on how to get started and master this skill quickly enough to produce a complete diagram. Thank you very much
First, determine the overall length, width, and height, then decide on the views – front view, side view, top view – and finally carry out the measurements
Have you taken Mechanical Drawing*? If you have, I think you shouldn’t have this problem, haha. Personally, I think the first step is to draw the front view, side view, and top view on paper, create a rough sketch by hand, then use relevant tools to measure the dimensions, and finally refine it in CAD
