The heating medium is heated using steam, and controlling the temperature of this medium is generally achieved by regulating the flow rate of steam. So, where should the control valve be installed – at the steam inlet or at the condensate outlet?
It depends on the specific situation, but we usually choose to control the steam inlet.
I think it’s better to use a steam inlet control, with a hydrophoger installed at the condensate outlet. The amount of steam used has a significant impact on temperature regulation. In our production process, we also use towers for regulating the condensate, and these towers require a smaller amount of steam; as a result, temperature regulation is slower, with gradual changes in temperature during adjustments.
Control valves are generally installed at the steam inlet.
Generally, control valves are installed on steam pipelines for the following reasons: 1. If they are placed on condensate pipelines, it will cause the pressure in the heat exchanger to remain constant at the same level as the pressure in the main steam pipeline. If the valve opening is small, this will affect the discharge of condensate, leading to accumulation of liquid at the bottom of the condenser, which in turn affects the equipment and the heat exchange process. 2. There is a steam trap on the condensate pipe, which also has the function of regulating steam; therefore, there is no need to install a control valve on it.
