It is said that a dimethyl ether project has also been planned in Pucheng, Shaanxi. What is the scale of this project? To what extent has it progressed so far? How will the coal and water resources for this project be secured? Thank you!
It’s not just said; work has indeed already begun. The preliminary design is either already complete or will be completed soon. It’s 1 million tons per year. Pucheng is not far from Yan’an, and the Wei River flows through that area. . . . .
Pucheng is far from Yan’an; one is in Guanzhong and the other in northern Shaanxi. Pucheng belongs to Weinan.
It is said that the capacity is now planned to reach 1.8 million tons per year of methanol, and discussions are underway with the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics; it is possible that an MTO plant will be established.
Pucheng already has abundant coal resources; it is located in the Guanzhong Plain, with the Yellow River to its north and the Wei River to its south, so its water resources are even more abundant.

Hehe~~ To give an accurate description, one needs to look at a map when expressing opinions: 1) Yan’an is located to the north of Pucheng, with a straight-line distance of over 400 kilometers between the two places. The length of the Xiyan Railway is over 6 hours ； 2) The Wei River flows from west to east 60 kilometers south of Pucheng, and it is not nearby either ； 3) The Yellow River flows from north to south 50 kilometers east of Pucheng; distant water cannot quench nearby thirst ； 4) The nearby river is the Luo River, but the surface runoff is low and the water quality is poor. So, it’s not that there are no problems with water resources. But there are already reliable solutions ； 5) There are indeed coal mines in the area and its surroundings, such as Pubaai, Chenghe, Hancheng, and Tongchuan. But those who have worked with gasification know that the presence of coal does not mean it can be utilized. The coal supply will need to be obtained from another source.
