Should a buffer tank or intermediate storage tank be added in front of the relay water pump? The facility needs to fetch water from a location 200 kilometers away and transport it to the production area (at a rate of 4000 t/h), with two relay pump stations in between. There are several options: 1. Connect the relay water pump directly to the pipeline ； 2. A buffer tank is installed in front of the relay water pump ； 3. An intermediate storage tank is installed in front of the relay water pump. Want to know which option is better?

Isn’t a relay water pump just a pipeline pump? I think it’s sufficient to simply apply pressure directly to the pipeline.
It depends on whether the pressure required can be met by a primary pump. If the water is only to be delivered to the factory premises, installing a buffer tank in between is convenient and easy to implement, and the operation is also relatively simple.
