In the reaction, some reactions yield grignard reagents. How can one determine whether the grignard reagent has begun to form and has been completely produced?
Grignard reagents are generally gray; if the color inside starts to darken and the magnesium flake particles become finer, it indicates that a reaction has begun. If the magnesium shavings have completely disappeared or the container is filled with dark gray powder, it indicates that the reaction has been completed.
