I would like to ask about the inspection methods for safety valves during normal production processes – how can we determine whether a safety valve is functioning properly and has not failed?
There are many names for online safety valve testers: online safety valve pressure setting devices, online safety valve calibration instruments, online safety valve testing equipment, online safety valve verification tools, safety valve inspection devices, and so on. A safety valve online tester is a field testing device used for testing, adjusting, and calibrating safety valves. When testing safety valves, it is not necessary to increase the operating pressure of the equipment, and production can continue normally during the testing process. Its superiority is especially evident when the pressure in the pipeline cannot be increased. For newly installed or overhauled safety valves, the set pressure changes after they are installed on the pipeline, meaning it is different from the set parameters when there is no pressure applied. At this time, the AJ device can perform online pressure-testing on it, displaying on the computer the opening pressure and closing pressure of the safety valve. The device can also perform a pressure-free test on the safety valve; by analyzing the recorded graphs, it is possible to determine the set pressure of the safety valve, the stiffness of the spring, and the opening displacement of the valve. The test results from calibration and in-use are then compared using a computer to determine whether the safety valve meets the technical requirements. I’ve only heard that safety valves can be tested online, but I’ve never seen what the process actually looks like. That’s all I can tell you; it is said that there are specialized organizations that carry out online calibration of safety valves.
We also send the safety valves for inspection at a testing station once a year; for certain pressure vessels and boilers, inspections specified by the special inspection authorities are required for them to be valid.
The safety valve is required to be inspected once a year; during maintenance, it is removed and sent to an inspection agency for testing. Once it passes the test, the inspection agency applies a seal before reinstalling it. Some specific safety valves can be tested online.
There are specialized testing institutions. The safety valves of our company were sent for inspection. The expiration date verification unit will indicate the next inspection date in the report. If the safety valve is damaged, a damage report will be issued requesting its replacement.
According to the regulations, a security check must be carried out once a year, and it must be sent to the designated security inspection agency for examination
To determine whether a safety valve is leaking during normal production, our factory follows these procedures. I’m not sure if they are effective, but you can use them as a reference: 1. During maintenance, install a DN20 vent on the pipeline between the safety valve’s outlet and the valve downstream of it. 2. If leakage of the safety valve is suspected during normal operation, simply close the valve downstream of the safety valve and open the DN20 vent. 3. If liquid or gas escapes from the DN20 vent, it indicates that the safety valve has a sealing leak; otherwise, there is no leakage.
