Regarding the type of top condenser

The top condensers I’ve come across in the past have all used horizontal tube-and-shell exchangers, but now there are proposals to use plate exchangers instead. Some seniors believe that when the vapor enters the plate condenser, there is a significant change in pipe diameter, which leads to high pressure drops. I wonder what everyone thinks about this?
Plate heat exchangers are not suitable for use with gases or in situations with high temperatures, right?
There are still more tube sheet types, and air cooling units are added at the back
The sealing of plate exchangers is an issue; plate exchangers are generally used for low pressures.
