Process evaluators in the workplace require that impact tests be conducted on Q345R material at 0°C, 25°C, and 50°C respectively. I would like to ask fellow sailors: Is it necessary to do this? Is it meaningful?
Q345R is generally subjected to a 0°C impact test.
As I recall, the impact test is conducted at the lowest design temperature; it seems that 0 degrees is sufficient
If the 0℃ impact test is passed, there is no need to conduct tests at higher temperatures. If the operating temperature is lower than that, it needs to be lowered further.
The purpose of impact testing is to assess the toughness of a material. The lower the temperature, the more brittle the material becomes. According to GB713 standards, Q345R is tested at 0 degrees Celsius. If higher requirements are set, it makes sense to lower the temperature further. I think your approach isn’t reasonable.
The minimum temperature setting was used; everything else was set to O. How can they be done separately?
There is no need for that; GB713-2007 specifies that the test temperature for impact strength of Q345 is 0 degrees. Any additional requirement from the customer can only be a lower temperature than this, and it makes no sense to use a higher temperature.
The purpose of impact testing is to assess the toughness of a material. Conducting an impact test at 0 degrees is sufficient; there is no need for additional tests, as it would be a waste of time and resources.
I agree with your statement; a design temperature of above -20°C is sufficient. It is specified in GB150
Excess quality also goes against the design philosophy, which is to minimize costs while still meeting the standards; it’s sufficient to follow those standards
