In a proper continuous sulfur melting tank (internal-type sulfur melting tank), the sulfur foam stays in the tank for only a short time under heating, so there is not much change in the formation of by-products; the greatest change occurs in the reaction in which sodium bicarbonate decomposes to form sodium carbonate. Returning the clear liquid to the system can save some soda ash. (I don’t have specific data when soda ash is used as the base source; sorry!)
When our Gas Purification Research Center at Dongshi Company was developing the DS-type sulfur foam filter, we conducted multiple analyses and tests on the composition of the molten sulfur residues. Why have all the components decreased? Does suspended sulfur exert a certain adsorption effect on these components?
Shouldn’t it be filtered first and then sulfur melted? Otherwise, how could everything decrease?
This here is the clear liquid component after filtration, while that is the residual liquid. The residue is a high-temperature liquid that forms as foam after heating in the sulfur melting tank; its main component is sulfur in its semi-finished state
