At present, the filter elements used in methanol plants in China are all imported from abroad, usually from Germany or Italy, while domestic filter element manufacturers generally only engage in assembly work. In terms of effectiveness, it’s obviously the filter element.
In typical methanol plants, filter element units are installed in four locations: at the outlet of the conversion unit (coke oven gas to methanol) system, at the inlet of the syngas compressor, at the outlet of the methanol separator, and on the pipeline leading to the demethanization distillation unit for methanol synthesis; The main purpose is to purify the gas entering the synthesis process and the methanol entering the distillation unit.
Here is some information regarding the filter element: it is made of stainless steel fiber sintered fabric, with the fiber contacts being fused together, resulting in a strong and foldable structure; The pore size has a gradient structure; it is a fixed-type irregular-pore-depth filtration medium. There is no media migration or shock loading, and thus no secondary pollution is caused. Filter element structure: It can be designed in a cylindrical or folded-cylindrical format, with full penetration welding that ensures high strength and good sealing performance; it can withstand a pressure difference of △P≥5bar. High porosity, high precision: Made from micron-scale ultra-fine fibers, this stainless steel fiber mat features a very high porosity (up to 90%) and excellent air permeability. Its porosity and air permeability are 2–3 times higher, respectively, than those of sintered powder materials; filters made from this material have extremely low fluid resistance and high filtration precision. High pollution absorption capacity: Its unique three-dimensional, multi-layered deep filtration structure enables a very high capacity to absorb pollutants, which is 3 to 5 times that of sintered powder materials ; The filtered area after folding is 3 to 4 times that of the cylindrical shape, yet its service life increases by 10 to 20 times. High temperature and corrosion resistance: Stainless steel fiber sintered felt exhibits excellent mechanical strength and toughness at high temperatures, and can operate in high-temperature, low-temperature, and corrosive environments. Economic and durable: The filter elements made of stainless steel fiber sintered felt can be cleaned and regenerated for repeated use, offering a one-time investment with long-term benefits.
