Companies often need to cut grooves at the edges of arc-shaped plates, and there are many different groove angles available. The company currently has one Messer CNC plasma cutter, but it can only cut straight grooves. One approach is to feed in the entire circular plate at once, then run it through a vertical lathe for one rotation, and finally cut off a piece; this can be very material-wasting in some cases. Another option is to purchase a beveling machine, but it is said to be very expensive, and there are no good manufacturers available in China. Alternatively, one can use a rotary machine to hold the sheet metal in place and determine its center; then the rotary machine is made to rotate while the plasma nozzle remains stationary for cutting. However, the plasma nozzle cannot generate an arc when it doesn’t move – this is a protective mechanism provided by the manufacturer. When grinding by hand, with stainless steel sheets that are very thick, it’s extremely difficult to grind them. Once we tried to grind an arc on an 8mm thick sheet; two fitters spent an entire afternoon on it, but the result wasn’t good enough, as there was a large error in the angle. Do anyone have any good methods or equipment recommendations?
I don’t know what the radius is; if it’s large, we can design an arc-shaped track just like we did. Don’t you have a rotary worktable?
