I am currently learning *ethylene simulation operations. Many of these abbreviations have uncertain meanings. QW: quench water, i.e., cooling water. QO: quench oil, i.e., cooling oil. SS: super pressure steam, i.e., ultra-high pressure steam. LS: low pressure steam, i.e., low-pressure steam. MS: mid pressure steam, i.e., medium-pressure steam. PW: In the ethylene process flow diagram, there are two types of water; both the refined water and the process water used in the DS reaction are denoted as PW.
I asked while hitchhiking: Are coil oil and quench oil the same thing?
In ethylene plants, waste heat recovery is an important measure for energy savings. Waste heat recovery from quench water and quench oil is one of them. The recirculation of quench oil to recover waste heat is translated as coil oil in some ethylene process diagrams.
