Coke-making is divided into low-temperature coke-making, medium-temperature coke-making, and high-temperature coke-making depending on the temperature. Low-temperature carbonization yields semi-coke, gas, and low-temperature coal tar. High-temperature carbonization yields coke, gas, and high-temperature coal tar. During high-temperature carbonization, the yield of coke is 73–78%, the yield of gas is 13–18%, and the yield of tar is 2.5–4.5%, all expressed as percentages of the weight of the dry coal.
