Currently, for the improvement of Siemens’ polysilicon process in China regarding the hydrogenation of silicon tetrachloride, there are two processes known as \"cold hydrogenation\" and \"hot hydrogenation\". “\"Cryohydrogenation\" is represented by Zhongsi High-Tech in Luoyang, Henan; it is said to operate quite stably at present, with a conversion rate of around 22% per cycle. “\"Thermal hydrogenation\" is represented by Sichuan Leshan Xinguang Silicon Industry; it is said to achieve a conversion rate of around 20% per batch, has low power consumption, and excellent safety features. Which process has the greater advantage? Hydrogen – different people have different opinions!
There is no highest level – only better. One thing is stability, and the other is a high conversion rate
We use thermal hydrogenation, with an electricity consumption of 3.5 kwg/kgsihcl3
Simply in terms of stability, thermal hydrogenation is definitely the best option, but to meet the industry’s quasi-thermal standards, cold hydrogenation is the better choice!
These days, aside from a few large companies, newly established manufacturers don’t pay much attention to hydrogenation; their focus is instead on distillation and rod processing.
Supercooled hydrogenation has not been investigated. Speaking of the hot hydrogenation process here, the power consumption is below 2.4 kW/kg of SiHCl3, and the conversion rate can exceed 20%; there is still room for improvement.
