For jacketed vessels, a hydraulic test is first conducted on the inner cylinder; once it passes, the jacket is welded, followed by a hydraulic test inside the jacket. However, when conducting jacket tests, it is necessary to pay attention to the pressure difference and prevent issues such as the inner cylinder becoming unstable under external pressure
Our factory conducts jacketing tests, and from what I understand, the jacketing is done first, followed by the inner tank. What was said upstairs seems a bit unrealistic to me; if the inner tank is installed first and there are still pipes on its walls, it will be difficult to install the jacket, and it won’t be possible to remove it later. Only after the jacket is properly installed and the testing is completed should the other components of the inner tank be installed. This is what I’ve seen done in all the workshops I’ve been in; as for other issues, I may not have considered them thoroughly.
The standards require that the inner cylinder be tested first; only after it passes the test should the jacket be tested, as once the jacket is installed, it becomes impossible to check whether the inner cylinder is leaking. But now many manufacturers reverse the order for the sake of easier installation; each has their own reasons, so it really doesn’t matter
I tend to agree with the opinion from the second floor: if a jacket test is carried out first and then a inner tube test, any problems with the inner tube will not be visible. And even if they are visible, how can repairs be made?
Is it allowed to weld after the inner cylinder pressure test is completed? If there are problems with welding again, isn’t that also troublesome?
The test pressure for the pressure test of jacketed vessels should generally be the maximum pressure difference; during the test, first apply pressure to the jacket to create this difference, and then connect the interior and exterior to apply internal pressure.
