I’m new to DCS, and the people within my company aren’t very willing to share their knowledge, so I have no choice but to turn to the experts in this field! Deadband ** Filter Time **: the unit is percent or EU; ** represents either a numerical value in percent or EU – please let me know what each of these terms means. Thank you

To get it translated, I still have to post a thread! Dead zone, filtering time – expressed as a percentage. How should these be interpreted in practical applications? I’ve gone through almost all the posts in the forum, and there’s hardly any suitable explanation!

The deadband refers to the alarm threshold; for example, if the range is 0~100 and the deadband is set to 2 (in units of percentage), then the alarm threshold value will be 2. Assuming the high value is 80 and the low value is 10, the alarm will be resolved only when it returns to ≥12 after a low reading occurs, and the alarm will be resolved only when it returns to ≤78 after a high reading occurs. Filter Time: the alarm filtering time, with a default value of 0 (seconds); alerts are issued immediately when an alarm occurs. For example, if you set it to 2, the alarm will sound after a 2-second delay. For units in percent, the alarm deadband is expressed as a percentage of the range. The EU value represents the direct alarm deadband value, without any need for percentage conversion; for example, if the parameter is in kg and the deadband is set to 5, then the alarm deadband is 5 kg

Deadband: the alarm dead zone; check automation or DCS manuals for more information. Filter Time is not the alarm filtering time; its default value is 0 (seconds). It serves to smooth out operations when there are large fluctuations in PV, and HONEYWELL has a specific formula for calculating it. It’s not a delayed police report. Units percent should be used to select the unit: either engineering units or percentages.
