What is the specific gravity of sulfur-free methanol at the outlet of the upper tower in the low-methane washing stage of the five-tower process? Our plant has just started operation, and the flow rate of the solution is given as a mass flow rate; therefore, we are very interested in knowing the density of sulfur-free methanol.

Our plant is designed to have an outlet methanol concentration of 713.19 kg/m3, a specific heat of 3.247 kj/kg·K, a volumetric flow rate of 516.8 knm3/h, an outlet temperature of 97.4 degrees, and a pressure of 0.224; Under normal operation, controlling the temperature of the methanol-rich stream at the outlet and the temperature of the acidic gas at the outlet (to keep it below 83 degrees) should not pose any problems. It is important to pay attention to the analysis data provided by Sinochem; our plant only has data on the water content and sulfur content of the methanol exported, without information regarding specific gravity
Our plant’s absorption tower is divided into an upper tower and a lower tower; the upper tower is used to absorb CO2, while the lower tower is used to absorb H2S. The amount of fluid that goes to the lower tower should be 50% of the total circulation volume. I want to know the specific gravity of the methanol that goes to the lower tower

In my opinion, the impact of pressure is likely to be minimal compared to weight; it’s more related to temperature. A friend said that at this temperature it’s close to 1, and based on your data, that seems quite possible.
