In the design, within the limited pipe length available, to meet the spacing requirements, it needs to be determined whether the flow control valve should be placed upstream or downstream of the flow meter. The colleagues in charge of instrument design suggest that placing it downstream is better, as the control exerted by the valve has a lesser impact on the flow meter. However, the design institute allows for either placement. I would appreciate it if everyone could share their opinions; experts are welcome!
The flow control valve should be installed downstream of the flow meter, in order to limit excessive flow to a predetermined value and appropriately reduce the high pressure upstream; even if the pressure upstream of the main valve changes, it will not affect the flow rate downstream of the main valve
