This situation is normal in China. The equipment is too big and it costs too much money to protect it. Nowadays, many companies don’t consider this. So usually I will run farther away in this situation.
I feel that such a high air tightness test pressure is higher than the air pressure of some equipment. Although it is an air tightness test, it is best to treat it as an air pressure test and take protective measures.
The standards seem to say that protection is required during air pressure testing, but there is no mention of no protection during air tightness testing. Because there is a pressure test before the air tightness test, the strength test has been verified. The air tightness test is to check the sealing of the equipment, and of course it must be protected. The superior leaders did not care enough, and the company's production was not perfect enough.
The airtight pressure is equal to the design pressure and must be carried out after the water pressure is qualified. During the test, the pressure should rise slowly. After reaching the specified test pressure, the pressure should be maintained for 10 minutes. Then, it should be reduced to the design pressure, and soapy water should be applied to the welds and joints for leakage inspection.
