Under what conditions does ethylene glycol dimethyl ether decompose, and into what does it decompose? Or what would decompose if it encountered something?
Ethylene glycol dimethyl ether is flammable and can easily catch fire and explode when exposed to open flames or high temperatures. It reacts violently with oxidizers. Contact with air or exposure to light can produce peroxides with potential explosive hazards. Its vapor is heavier than air, allowing it to spread over considerable distances at lower levels; it can ignite and cause backdraft when exposed to an open flame. Combustion (decomposition) products: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide.
