Which is better, the production department or the work area in a state-owned chemical enterprise?

I work at a state-owned chemical company, and recently there was a change in my position. I’m not sure whether it would be better for me to work as an engineer in the production area or in the production department. I would appreciate it if you could share your opinions. Thank you. My original intention was to learn more *professional knowledge, and I wasn’t sure which position would allow me to progress better and more quickly.

Let me briefly introduce my background: I have a bachelor’s degree, and over the past 8 years I have worked as an operator on the production line, progressing to technician and then to professional engineer. I am considering either becoming the deputy director of the production area or a process engineer in the production department – I was wondering if these would be suitable choices
